Best Segway Ninebot Go-Karts & Kits: Review & Buying Guide

Segway has made it extremely convenient to enjoy go-kart racing by converting the Ninebot S and Ninebot S Max to an electric go-kart! This means that the barrier to entry for go-kart racing is even lower and simple than before!

To enjoy racing your very own affordable electric go-kart, you can either purchase a Ninebot GoKart Conversion Kit or purchase a set that includes a Ninebot hoverboard, as well as the conversion kit.

Segway Ninebot Go-Karts can be enjoyed by kids and adults that are between 51” to 75” (130cm to 190cm) tall and can reach speeds of up to 23 mph (37 km/h)! These electric go-karts are packed with various other features that we’ll explore in this review.

I’ve tested all of these go-karts for a couple of weeks and will give you my thoughts on their features, handling, performance, and much more! Here’s a quick summary of how I ranked them and what they’re best used for:

  1. Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro (Ninebot S Max) – Best Performance
  2. Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart (Ninebot S) – Value for Money
  3. Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit – For Conversions

I’ve also included a buying guide and an FAQ section to make sure that you’ve got all of the information that you need to choose the Segway Ninebot go-kart that suits your preferences!

1. Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro (Ninebot S Max)

Features

  • Top Speed: 23 mph
  • Output: 4,800W
  • Ninebot S Max Included

The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is the high-performance version of the Ninebot go-kart series and comes with a Ninebot S Max. With speeds up to 23 mph (37 km/h), it’s also the fastest in Segway’s lineup. During my tests, I even got about 5 – 10% more out of it. Actual results depend on terrain and driver weight.

It manages to achieve this top speed through its two electric motors that have a combined output of 4,800W, which produce up to 96 Nm of torque. This makes it about 60% faster than the non-pro model and is designed for the ultimate thrill-seekers.

Moreover, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro comes with various high-performance features that include special thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) rear tires and a drift assistant system for easier drifting, an emergency brake, and anti-collision protection for added safety and riding protection, among various others.

This pro version go-kart from Segway also has distinctive design differences compared to the other models in its lineup, such as an aerodynamic spoiler to accommodate high-speed racing, sleek, metal race pedals, and a matte gray color palette with green accents, an aggressive stance, and green LED headlights.

As far as driver specifications are concerned, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is suitable for adults and kids who are at least 14 years of age. The seat is adjustable and can accommodate a driver height between 4’3” to 6’5”.

Under the bottom line, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is a great model for those who seek the highest performance from Segway’s lineup. With an acceleration from 0 to 23 mph in just seconds, this electric go-kart will even satisfy the most daring thrill-seekers.

2. Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart (Ninebot S)

Features

  • Top Speed: 15 mph
  • Output: 2,400W
  • Ninebot S Included

The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart is the non-pro version of the electric go-kart series and comes with a Ninebot S. Take note that this is not the Max version, but it is still able to deliver great performance.

It has a range of 9 miles (15km) and a top speed of 15 mph (24 km/h), which is enabled by a motor that produces an output of 2,400W. The difference between this and the pro versions is that this go-kart doesn’t have a “Track Mode” feature available, only a “Sports mode” which limits it to 15 mph.

The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart produces a torque of 60 Nm, which is about 60% less than the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro. However, it still manages to accelerate to its top speed in a matter of seconds!

There are three gears to choose from, which makes it a great option for kids. Novice mode is set at 5 mph, Standard Mode at 11 mph, and Sport Mode at 15 mph. Its collapsible design makes it easy for transportation and assembling it with a Ninebot S, takes just a couple of seconds.

While it doesn’t contain many of the added performance features that the pro version has, it comes in a sleek white finish with gray accent colors. This gives it a very minimalist and clean appearance.

Overall, this electric go-kart from Segway is a great choice for racers above the age of 8 years, with a height between 4’3” to 6’5” and who are not heavier than 220 Ibs (100 kg). You can also purchase this with a Nincebot S Max instead here, but we recommend just going for the pro version instead.

3. Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit

Features

  • Conversion Kit
  • Compatible with Ninebot S and Ninebot S Max

The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit is a hoverboard attachment that you’ll be able to use if you have a Segway Ninebot S or a Ninebot S Ma, which you can convert into an electric go-kart. Take note that this is one of the best hoverboard go-kart kits that’s available on the market!

The performance of this kit depends on the hoverboard it’s equipped with. With a Ninebot S Max, it achieves a top speed of 23 mph (37 km/h) and with a Ninebot S, it manages 15 mph (24 km/h).

Take note that this electric go-kart kit from Segway does not come in the pro version; only in the standard version. Much like the electric go-karts from Segway that come with hoverboards, this one features adjustability to accommodate driver heights between 4’3” to 6’5”.

The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit is also very portable with closed dimensions of 40 x 32 x 18 inches (138.3 x 82.2 x 60 cm). Moreover, it’s also equipped with various other features that make it a great go-kart conversion kit.

For example, it comes with a dual braking system (electric and mechanical), non-inflatable hollow tires that are long-lasting, headlights for increased visibility, and a status indicator that shows battery and speed settings.

Overall, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit is perfect for adults and kids who wish to transform their Segway Ninebot S or a Ninebot S Max into an electric go-kart that promises countless hours of fun!

Buying Guide: Selecting the Right Segway Ninebot Go-Kart

When it comes to selecting the best Segway Ninebot Go-Kart, there are a couple of aspects that you should consider. Before making any purchase, you should try and fully understand all of the specifications, performance, driver requirements, features, Segway App, and design aspects. Let’s take a closer look!

Specifications

I’ve created a table that compares the specifications between the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro, Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart, and the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit. In the following sections, we’ll go a little deeper into the performance and features of each model.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is slightly larger than the standard versions. It also weighs 22.9 lbs more, due to the increased motor size and output.

Moreover, the pro version also has a higher ground clearance. This is generally atypical for faster go-karts, but in this case, the increased ground clearance is to ensure that the go-kart does not make contact with the surface at higher speeds.

Performance

Below, you’ll see a performance comparison between all three models. Take note that there is limited performance information about the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Kit because it doesn’t come with a Ninebot Max or Max S.

As you can see from the table above, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is the fastest one in the lineup with a maximum speed of 23 mph (37 km/h), compared to the 15 mph (24 km/h) from the standard version. As the pro version is known to be the performance version, it also has an additional speed setting called “Track Mode”.

The additional 8 mph, equates to about a 50% speed increase, due to the larger dual motors that produce 4,800W (twice as much as the standard versions). The larger battery pack also accounts for the increased range between the two models of 15.5 miles (25 km) vs 9 miles (15km).

While all models have the same braking distance and steering ratio, which enable accurate handling, they have different max acceleration values. The pro model achieves a total of 1.02G, whereas the standard version manages about 0.7G.

Take note that I did not have an accelerometer installed on either of my test runs, so I was not able to verify this. However, the pro model certainly felt that it was accelerating quite a bit faster.

Therefore, if you’re more performance-focused, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is the version for you. If you’re looking for something a little tamer, while still having fun, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart, which is the standard version, would be more suitable for you.

Design & Features

Let’s talk about features next. The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro comes with a little more design and features than the standard version. What exactly the differences are, can be seen in the table below.

There are various differentiating design and functional features between the pro and standard versions of Segway Ninebot’s electric go-kart. Visually, you’ll be able to see that the pro variant looks more aggressive, with a dark gray color pallet and green accents, compared to the white color of the standard version.

Functionally, there are also various differences separating these two models. The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro features a Formula 1 style rear reflector, a racing-inspired bucket seat, green LED headlights, hollow-solid front tires that offer high grip, and an aerodynamic rear spoiler, among several other performance-related features.

On the other hand, the standard Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart shares some similarities with the pro variant with its dual braking system, foldable design, and multi-layer absorption bumpers, among various others.

Under the bottom line, if you’re looking for a more feature-rich and performance-driven model, the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart would be more suitable for you. On the other hand, I would recommend the standard version for kids or adults who only wish to race casually.

Driver Requirements

As the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro has an additional speed setting and can reach speeds of up to 23 mph, Segway recommends drivers to be at least 14 years old. I highly recommend that you follow this, as racing at these speeds requires more skill, focus, and experience.

On the other hand, the standard Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart is more suitable for kids, as the recommended driver age is just 8 years old. Take note that you’ll also be able to further restrict the top speed through the Segway App.

Here’s a quick of the recommended driver requirements:

  • Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart: 8+ years old & between 4’3” to 6’5”
  • Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro: 14+ years old & between 4’3” to 6’5”

Segway App

The great thing about both Segway Ninebot electric go-karts is that both can be synched to the Segway App. The app can be downloaded for iOS and Android phones and has a variety of features.

You’ll be able to connect to your electric go-kart in real-time to adjust settings, unlock higher speed modes through viewing training videos and tutorials, diagnose go-kart issues, and various other things. The app is free and I highly recommend syncing your Segway Ninebot go-kart with it.

Frequently Asked Questions

I also wanted to make sure that I address some of the most frequently asked questions about all of the Segway Ninebot electric go-kart models and which one may be the best for you.

Please find some of the answers below. If you would like to have your questions added and answered, feel free to get in touch with me and I will be more than happy to add them to the list below.

Which Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Is the Best for Me?

If you’re looking for a high-performance go-kart, with racing-inspired designs and features then the Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro is more suitable for you. How Long Do I Need to Charge the Go-Kart For?

As long as your Segway Ninebot go-kart comes with a Ninebot S or S Max, you’ll find a charger in the kit. This is a 120W 59V fast charger that is able to fully charge your go-kart in about 4 to 5 hours.

You’ll also be able to charge your go-kart through any standard wall plug in North America, Europe, Asia, and other regions, as the input voltage is between 100 – 240 volts.

How Long Does Each Charge Last For?

The Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart Pro has a total range of 15.5 miles (25 km) and the standard Segway Ninebot Electric GoKart has a range of 9 miles (15km). I have stress tested both variants and can report that the battery usually lasts a little longer than indicated, with moderate speed settings.

However, it’s important to note that the lifespan of a battery deteriorates over time, especially when it’s not properly maintained.

What Terrain Can I Race These Segway Ninebot Go-Karts On?

Both Segway Ninebot electric go-karts can be raced on any flat surfaces such as roads, tracks, sidewalks, grass, and similar terrains. Before racing on any terrain ensure that the ground clearance of your go-kart is sufficient to avoid any risk of exterior damage.
