How to Read the Yerf Dog Go-Kart Engine List

If you require more information on how to read the Yerf Dog engine table above, simply refer to the column descriptions below that you would like to further understand. I’ll explain what each of the respective columns mean and also give you some actual examples.

Model Image

The model image refers to the model of your Yerf Dog go-kart. If you’re unsure of the model number, in case you have misplaced your owner’s manual, you can always refer to the image to identify your Yerf Dog kart.

Brand Name

The brand name refers to the brand of these go-karts. In this case, they’re all Yerf Dog go-karts.

Model Number

Each Yerf Dog series or type of go-kart has a unique model number. It’s important that you refer to the number at all times, as the engine brand, model and output is different across some of the models. This number can be found in the owner’s manual.

If you’re unable to locate this number, please identify your Yerf Dog go-kart model by the model image on the left most column.

Part Number

Each part of a Yerf Dog go-kart has a unique number. This is also the case for the engines. As you can see, each part number has a corresponding engine brand and model.

As an example, let’s take a look at the Yerf Dog 3202. The part number of the engine is listed as Q43160W. This part number corresponds to a Tecumseh engine that has an output of 6 HP. This number can also be found in the owner’s manual and on the engine itself.

Engine

Each part number corresponds to a specific engine. The most common engines used on Yerf Dog go-karts are from Tecumseh.

Let’s stick with the same example. The Yerf Dog go-kart model number 3202 with the part number Q43160W, is equipped with a Tecumseh 6 HP engine. You can now look at the engine specifications and order your parts for upgrade or even use the dimensions in order to upgrade the engine entirely.

Can I Replace or Upgrade a Yerf Dog Engine?

Yes, you certainly can. You can basically use any type of engine to upgrade a Yerf Dog go-kart. However, if you don’t pay attention to the engine dimensions, you may need to do some modifications to the base, sprockets and other types of components.

That’s why it’s best to ensure that the engine you choose to replace your existing one with has similar, if not the exact same dimensions. For more information make sure to check out my guide on the best Yerf Dog updates.

Take note of the following when upgrading your engine:

  • Mounting pattern
  • Output
  • Physical dimensions
  • Crankshaft diameter
  • Weight

    • Hi John,

Make sure to check the following:
      – Spark plugs
      – Ignition coil (and wiring)
      – engine oil level
      – carburetor (if you have one)
      – fuel filter

      • Yerf dog. Make HOZOU, Type HZ 90K, Im unable to find infomation on this engine. Engine XDZ IPE5OQMF. Not sure if its a gas/oil combo. Aslo I only see 1 possible place to add oil in back of engine like where transmission oil would go. Not sure what type of oil goes in there either. Any help would be predicated.

        • I have the same one and have been trying to find information on it. Mine has a spot to put 2 cycle in it for motor. It has an electric start but is missing the starter and I have been trying to purchase one but I called customer service and they say it does not come with an electric start. I do not think they know what they are talking about because the person I got it from took it off and lost it so now I do not know what is the part number or what it looks like. Does yours have a starter?

    • Hi Michael,

You can find Tecumseh engines on Amazon, eBay and other reseller websites.
Alternatively, you can also replace it with any other engine of similar output.
You’ll just need to ensure the dimensions and specifications are same/similar.

      Hope that helps!

    • Hi! Yes you certainly can!
Just ensure that there’s enough space and also take note that you don’t mix oil into 4-stroke engine fuel.
